Jesse Wegman is a member of The New York Times Editorial Board, where he has covered the intersection of law and politics since 2013. In more than 1,000 editorials, unsigned and signed, he has written about the Supreme Court, threats to democracy, electoral reform, voting rights, criminal justice and much more. His first book, Let The People Pick The President: The Case for Abolishing the Electoral College, was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2020. He is currently at work on the first mainstream biography of James Wilson, the most democratic of all the founding fathers, and the strongest advocate for popular election of the president.
