An award-winning civil rights leader, attorney and dedicated public servant, Tanisha M. Sullivan is served a co-chair for the 2020 state-wide RCV campaign in MA and is currently co-chair for the RCV Boston campaign. In January 2022 she announced her history making candidacy for Secretary of State in Massachusetts, and in June 2022 she became the first woman of color to be endorsed by the Massachusetts Democratic party in a statewide race. The driving themes and platform of that race speak to Tanisha’s unwavering belief in the possibility of the American democracy. She is thoughtful, innovative, courageous, and compassionate in her vision and action.
An accomplished practicing attorney, Tanisha’s background is unique. She has over 25 years of experience working with companies in the healthcare and life sciences industry. She has also taken on various roles serving on government commissions and task forces, including a cabinet level position with the Boston Public Schools as the district’s inaugural Chief Equity Officer from 2013-2015.
Tanisha has built a reputation as an impact-driven leader championing policies that advance economic and social justice in communities across Massachusetts. She serves on a number of non-profit boards, is the president of the NAACP Boston Branch, and frequently comments for major media outlets including The Boston Globe, NPR Boston, GBH, WCVB, NECN, CBS Boston, and the local NBC affiliate.
Tanisha is also the recipient of several prestigious civic and professional recognitions, including multiple years on the Boston Magazine Power list, Boston Business Journal Power 50, Girl Scouts of Eastern MA Leading Woman, MLK Legacy Award, Boston Business Journal 40 Under 40, and NAACP Boston Next Generation Leadership.
She earned a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia, a J.D. from Boston College Law School, and an M.B.A. from the Boston College Carroll School of Management; and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links.
