David Brown

Founder/Creative Director, Harmony Project

David Brown has been called “America’s chorus director,” having united tens of thousands of neighbors over the past 25 years to create a collective and united voice for the greater good. Brown gained national recognition with sold-out performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, and appearances on CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley, Today, Good Morning America, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and on Hulu with the John Legend and Joanna Coles-produced special “Finding Harmony.” Brown engages people across social, cultural, religious, political, economic, and geographic divisions, turning complete strangers into powerhouse choruses whose members earn their way to the performance stage through volunteer community service.

A native of Louisiana, Brown spent 20 years in NYC and Los Angeles. For the past 15 years, he has lived in Columbus, Ohio, where he founded Harmony Project, a 501c3 arts organization committed to disrupting dissonance, embracing difference, and building social harmony. In 2015, Brown’s dream of parenthood was realized with the fostering and adoption of two teenage sons.
