Alexandra Russell

Philanthropic Leader

Alexandra Russell founded a consulting practice in 2010, specializing in facilitating movement building, democracy, voting rights, and electoral power. Her expertise lies in developing democracy and civic engagement grantmaking portfolios for private and public foundations. Alexandra advised national women-led affinity groups such as Way to Win and the Women Donors Network, assisting in impactful giving plans. She was also the founding director of a national working group on money in politics. Previously, Alexandra managed the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, supporting initiatives for women’s political equity. She has held leadership roles in media reform and democracy organizations. 

Alexandra holds a Master’s degree in Theological Studies from Boston University and lives in Northampton with her spouse and two daughters. She enjoys road biking, snowshoeing, and is attempting to love board games.
